I know it's been a while :) sowy...

Well last weekend (the weekend of the 15th) we had a guys camp out so we left on Friday and came back Sunday. It was pretty crazy. Very interesting things happen when you get sixty guys together and they start acting like...well...boys.

We had just arrived and almost all the guys came in the big bus (not pictured) but I drove Bamse (pictured) with the cooks in it so we could get there earlier than the rest so the cooking could start. Needless to say, we were quite fast :)

I know I've been posting more pics of the SM's than of the kids lately, but that's because I never have my camera around me when the kids are around. I'll fix that problem asap :)

New Gear.... :)

Well, finally got my school outfit today for the various sport activities and such. I also got my Vejlefjord soccer outfit today. I also sprung for some nice indoor football shoes while I was shopping at Bilka. Today, while I was down in Veijle I bought a new soccer ball, so I can have one of my own :)

Once again...so exhausted

I just got back from playing more indoor football (soccer) and am so exhausted. I mean it's some hard playing that goes on over here and I love it!!! Anyway, I'm still a little jet-lagged. It takes me a while to go to sleep but it'll get better. Goodness...it's already midnight. I'll get back to writing tomorrow :)

Love you all, and good night! I promise I'll have pics tomorrow.

I'm here...at the school...and it's awesome

It's 2:10 in the morning over here while I write this so excuse any mess-ups. I arrived at Copenhagen Airport earlier than expected so I got to wait and watch people for a while. A really cool social worker came over and talked to me and started off by saying "you're an American right?" He had picked me out of the crowd lol. He let me use his cell phone to call my ride. It was no use though because my dad and Henriette had already arrived to pick me up. My dad, was actually leaving for Chattanooga on the same day I arrived here, so we had to say quick goodbyes and off he went. I ate a little bit at Henriette's house and then got a 2-hour train ride to Veijle. Dan, another SM working at the school, was there, soon thereafter, to pick me up. I'll skip some of the deeper details but I am feeling really comfortable around here. The Danish locals that go to school here are beyond nice and I've already made lots of friends. They amaze me. They'll just come up to you out of nowhere and ask you where you're from, what you're name and so on. None of this uncomfortable ignoring that is so ingrained into western culture. The staff here are so great as well. They accepted me right away and I feel like I'm family already. It's a really relaxed atmosphere. We had a nice indoor soccer (from now on considered football, since it is the REAL football) tournament and it was crazy and showed me how out of shape I am. Oh well, I'll be back in shape in no time.
A kid here from 8th grade called Frederik (the one hiding behind the girl in the video below) is teaching me my Danish basics and he's a great teacher, and a great kid, along with some of the uber-crazy girls that are going here. Energy to the hilt! This video has a mixture of SM's and kids/students.

Anyway, I'll take and post some pics of the staff, kids, and surroundings after I get up sometime tomorrow (who knows when).

Flying....

Well, I'm on the other side of the pond now :)
I left for Atlanta on Wednesday and stayed at my grandparent's house for the night. I got up around 9 and then left at around 10 for ATL Airport. The goodbye to everyone, especially with my mom, was hard but I know I'll see them sooner than later. A year a is a long time, but I'm up for the adventure and am curious as to what God has in store for me for this year (and the rest of my life, of course). Anyway, back to the happenings...I left ATL on the plane that was taking me up to Washington D.C. around 13:10 and I got to Dulles Airport (that's the D.C. airport's name) about one hour and fifteen minutes later. The tailwind that we were experiencing cut quite a chunk of time out of the flight which is nice. The landing into D.C. was ridiculous. There was either some turbulence that we couldn't feel, or the pilot just didn't have his junk together cause we hit the ground hard, quite hard. Anyway, no harm done, no backs broken :). I had about a two and a half hour layover and finally boarded the SAS flight that would take me to Copenhagen, DK. I was very pleased when I sat down and saw that even the economy class passengers had their own personal entertainment systems so they could do what they wanted.

It is not an Apple marvel of interface but it's much better than you usually will see in the economy class isles. Gotta love those Scandinavians and their heightened sense of standard of living (flying). I arrived in Copenhagen in great time. The flight took about half an hour less than expected. Average ground speed during the trip was around 600mph (960kph, gotta start thinking like a European again :)) Well, I'll let you guys know how it is once I meet everyone and get on site.
